Would you have expected that an ancient letter to Jesus' followers in an ancient city called Corinth, could help us make sense of the messiness of life, relationships and spirituality in the 21st century.
While we say we are bearers of the good news of Jesus' love and grace, experiences within local Christian communities can seem too messy and far less than desired.
Like all humans, we can often be grumpy, selfish, competitive, irritable, easily offended, highly possessive of small things and indifferent about big ones. We defend self-interest sometimes at the expense of the good news of Jesus.
In the same way that is true of some local church experiences today, so it was with the Christians Paul was writing to in Corinth.
Our series in First Corinthians explores the beauty of a local church community when it truly unites around Jesus and the joy and excitement that Christ-centred diversity brings.
Jesus Unites. Beauty Inspires. Diversity Excites.
